She didn't really care about the house, to be honest. The weather sounded pretty mild in her new town, and she loved to sleep under the stars. So here she was at last.

The foundation looked good, and the toilet was already plumbed into it. She spent a good part of the morning painting her mailbox a planet-friendly green. This, she decided, would be her safe haven. She'd have nothing to worry about here, she could just tinker away, saving the Earth, baking vegan muffins, and inviting friends around for nectar and gnubb. No commitments... ...well, except the maintenance on her house. But otherwise, she could live as a free spirit.

Her first goal, while still new to the area, was to scope out the stomping grounds of her professional idol - Professor Threadneedle. The professor wasn't exactly famous - she wasn't a celebrity - but everyone who worked in the field of eco-technology was aware of her work. This went doubly for Tamsin. Tamsin was, if anything, a little obsessed with Threadneedle, which is why she could hardly contain her excitement as she arrived at Threadneedle's own Inventorium, a gallery of widgets, whatzits and wonders!

Tamsin's bunsen of thought was extinguished suddenly as an attractive guy in the stairwell casually threw her a peace sign. She returned it. He was the first person who had gone out of his way to acknowledge her in town, so he immediately had her attention.
His name was Perseus, she liked that. Very avant-garde. Very classical. Very cool. As they talked she felt that perhaps he, too, was a free spirit. Someone she could really bond with. She invited him to come to the bar next door, Cog, for a drink, but he had other things to do that night. She had to admit, she was a little downcast at the bar. The place was very empty, but that made sense, she had arrived on a Sunday night. She ordered a dish that sounded meat-free, and took in her surroundings. She liked this bar. Perhaps it could be her regular?

There was a lone pianist in the corner, Tosha Go according to the mixologist, who played a lively tune all for Tasmin. All up, it had been a good day in her new home.

Challenge Notes
Not much happened to advance the challenge on the first day, but it's a beginning. Perseus is an early obvious candidate to father Tamsin's children, being a young mixologist who might not be looking to settle down. The fact that Tamsin got the Inventor income is what lead to the obsession with Threadneedle, who she may eventually meet. I'm trying not to push interaction too much in the early days. Tamsin goes places, and if there's someone who seems appropriate, she might strike up conversation. The foundations for her house were quite a splurge. She's totally broke.
Yay, I'm so glad you joined us and started a legacy blog!
ReplyDeleteTamsin is one of my favorite names. :D
I hope Tamsin gets to meet Prof. Threadneedle. I was always interested in her, but my early rolls were all musicians and artists, so they didn't interact with her.
Good start, and welcome to the challenge!
ReplyDeleteTamsin seems like a really interesting character, so can't wait to read more about her. Hopefully she gets her house finished soon!
Great start, i can't wait to see where your story is headed
ReplyDeleteWelcome Kiwi!
ReplyDeleteI love that your legacy is taking place in your own town, who else knows these characters better??
Hi I'm here from MTS
ReplyDeleteI see I've got some catching up to do. I'm really excited about this story, Tamsin looks like a fun heir to follow.
Usually in these stories you find the heir's goal is to have kids or complete their LTW, at least in most of the stories I've read, so it's nice to see an heir with a different goal.
I love Tamsin's house, too, it's really free-spirit.
